Hobbies
My chief interest is my wonderful wife and our two daughters, both of whom I helped with college essays. One got into Vanderbilt, the other the University of Oxford in England. Needless to say, I didn't write their essays. We had fun kicking around ideas. My older daughter's essay focused on a book she loved about a girl who was brought up by dolphins! It helped explain her early commitment to helping homeless children. She's now finishing her doctorate in psychology. Our younger daughter wrote very imaginatively about her favorite poet, T.S. Eliot (an American who studied at Oxford). She's about to begin a graduate writing program at Johns Hopkins. I edited their writing much the way I edited TV news scripts for thirty years. A key to writing for broadcast and for colleges is sounding like a serious but likable human being. I can help you with that. Other interests: great books, classical music (I used to be a music critic), NFL football (go Bengals!) and trying to write a great book of my own. Hope we get to meet but, in any event, have a terrific, fulfilling, college career.
